More than 80 breweries from all over the U.S. including 13 CT based breweries were in attendance at this year’s Harbor Brew Fest.  From Two Roads Brewing Co. (Stratford, CT) to Charter Oak Brewing Company (New Canaan, CT) there was plenty for beer lovers to choose from.  The brew fest was located at Bridgeport’s Ballpark at Harbor Yard with the iconic PSEG smokestacks as the backdrop for this year’s event.  The brew fest featured plenty of hops and malts, tasty gourmet bites from a variety of food trucks for the foodies at heart (including myself), as well as great music from several local bands.  All of the proceeds to benefit Harbor Light Foundation, Inc., a local non-profit that provides programming for children with autism.  Want to know more about Harbor Light Foundation? Sip, Sip…

My personal favorite beer was Charter Oak’s Light’s Out Stout, which is the first of their “Limited Release” series.  Flavor profile of chocolate, coffee and roasted barley.  This would be my “go-to” fire-pit sipping beer.  Perfect for fall drinking.  Charter Oak Brewing is located in New Canaan, CT and focuses on small-batch brewing to ensure freshness. With its inception in 2012, Charter Oak offers four-year round staple beers: IPA, Pale Ale, Brown Ale and Extra Special Bitter (ESB), as well as several seasonals.  For more information, please visit http://www.charteroakbrewing.com

Crunchification time…

Nothing is better than a sunny fall day, beer in hand and a gourmet grill cheese food truck to meld the experience together.  Melt Mobile food truck offers a variety of gourment grilled cheese sandwiches for all taste buds alike.  Melt Mobile’s founders Darlene & Diana brought their NYC idea to Stamford, CT where it has since exploded with rave reviews.  I had to try the “go-to” signature: the Meatball 3 Cheese Squeeze.  It tastes exactly how it sounds.  This ‘wich features meatballs in marinara sauce with fresh chopped basil, fresh mozzarella, Pecorino Romano, Parmigiano Reggiano, on Tuscan bread.  Crunchy, savory sunday sauce and meatballs with melty, cheesy goodness is only the beginning!  This grilled gourmet sandwich is plenty for two people to devour.  Napkins a must!  Hungry?  Visit http://www.meltmobilect.com
