Famous for its traditional Greek-style pizza, Zois (pronounced “Zoyce”) has been serving up their famous pizzas for over 40 years. Located among the old Victorian buildings and antique street lamps that make up downtown Seymour, Zois is where you should go if you are craving a great pizza.
With its unique, almost deep-fried texture and generous amounts of mozzarella cheese, onions, peppers, mushrooms, pepperoni, sausage and meatballs, the Zois Specialty pizza is something unforgettably delicious. If you are in the mood for a more simple pizza with big flavor, the classic Margarita is the way to go. Sometimes this type of pizza can get overpowered by too much garlic or lost in the amount of sauce. Not here. Each of the toppings are fresh and added with equal precision. Every bite is consistent, rich in flavor and has what I call “proper crunchification.”
Along with the great selection of food, Zois’ offers an array of local, domestic and imported beer, as well as wine. For local brews, they have (on tap & bottle) Two Roads Brewing (Stratford, CT): Road to Ruin, Ol’ Factory Pilsner, Honeyspot IPA, Worker’s Comp Saison, and No Limits Hefeweisen. Zois’ will be adding Shebeen Brewing Company’s Turbo IPA, Black Hop IPA, and their Irish Pale Ale. Domestics include Yeungling, Bass, Shock Top, Sam Adams and more! Imports include Guinness and Corona. Their local wine list includes Sunset Meadow Vineyard’s Twisted Red, Sunset Blush, Cayuga White and Blustery Blend. Imports include Muses Estate 9 Wine from Greece consisting of a Cabernet Sauvignon, Red Blend, Assyrtiko White, and Savatiano White.
The family-style restaurant also serves a wide variety of grinders, calzones, appetizers and salads…all made fresh! Keep it simple, keep it fresh and keep prices low.
Come take a stroll through historic Seymour, or enjoy a hike at Fountain Lake, and please, go get a slice of pizza (or two!) at Zois’!
